Shoes have been around for thousands of years, from the palm leaves that the slaves wore to the lavish shoes of
today. The common people of ancient Egypt wore only sandals made of leaves from a water plant, usually woven. The
shoe was of a sole tied to the bottom of the foot by thick string. Thong shoes that had pointed toes were only worn
by the high society, kings, pharaohs, etc. Shoes in ancient times had no left shoe. They were all made from drawing
the shape of the right foot and then two were made; thus being extremely uncomfortable. It was not until the
eighteen eighties did the cobblers start making both right and left shoes.
As the years went by shoes became more and more comfortable and warm for men. Shoes that were made for women
were not very stylish as they were actually made for the man. Winter shoes for women did not appear until the
eighteen hundreds and were still pretty wicked on the feet. Winter shoes for women started having heels; they could
be from one half inch to three inches. Although the higher the heel, the more dangerous it is to wear in the winter
months. If one lives where it snows a lot, high heels might not be a good choice.
Many think that just women wear high heeled shoes, but it is not the case. Winter shoes for women and men were
and are still made today that have platform heels and or soles are made to keep the feet from getting wet or muddy.
Women today want their shoes to look pretty and also keep their feet warm. There are so many different designers,
